Special Hard Steel - SKD11 Shaft
SKD11S shaft steel is a type of Cold Work Tool Steel, manufactured under the JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard). It contains chromium (Cr), molybdenum (Mo), and vanadium (V), providing high strength, excellent wear resistance, and outstanding hardenability.
Properties of SKD11 Shaft Steel
- Standard: JIS G4404 (Japan)
- Type: Cold Work Tool Steel
- Hardness (HRC): 60 - 62 HRC after hardening
- Tensile Strength (TS): Above 2,000 MPa (after hardening)
- Yield Strength (YS): Extremely high
- Wear Resistance: Excellent, suitable for high-pressure and friction-intensive applications
- Hardenability: Can be hardened up to HRC 60+
- Crack and Deformation Resistance: Superior to standard carbon steel
- Impact and Compressive Strength: Medium to High
Applications of SKD11 Steel
Due to its high hardness and wear resistance, SKD11 is ideal for precision and heavy-duty applications, such as:
- Metal Stamping Dies: Used for metal stamping molds and steel cutting blades
- Plastic Molds: Injection molds requiring high-pressure resistance
- Cutting Tools: Industrial metal cutting knives and blades
- High-Friction Machine Components: Bearings, shafts, and mold components
- โHeavy Industry Rollers: Conveyor rollers, metal rolling mill rollers
